Yes, yes, long time, blah blah. I’ve been busy, you know, making my way into the adult world. And by that I don’t mean leaving the teens because everyone knows I’m still 18. I mean finally getting a driver’s license. Hallelujah, amen and other words of praise.

The red ribbon is my mother's doing.

I’m also now on holiday so it all works out perfectly. First year is done and I have the power to be mobile. That could only mean one thing: party party. Kidding! I’m just on the farm – not that I’m complaining. In fact, it is a beautiful day outside so I’m going to finish this up and go and do something holiday-ey. I’ll let you know how that goes.

Daisies and Dranks

So it has been a long time! I really need to get into this habit. Its probably not that hard to put up a little post every other day but somehow in my head I make it seem like so much more of a mission. I think a problem is I don't really know what this blog is about. Initially, it was just so I could keep my better half over in Sydney up to date on the life and times of Micky but I think I'd like it to be a little more than that. What exactly I'm just not sure...

I guess I'll just play it by ear and see what comes out of it. Post things I care about in the moment. Right now, my current obsession is getting to Rocking The Daisies for free. Well sort of. At a big discount. I cannot even put into words what an amazing experience it would be. Basically, Rocking The Daisies is a music festival, as the name would suggest, and they have this initiative going where you can walk to the festival and you get a ticket for free. Not only would my budget be ecstatic at the prospect of saving a little but it would also just be so freaking cool!! Its a two day hike through one of the best parts of the country with plenty of cool people, just soaking up the awesome-ness of everything. There are sadly several seemingly unconquerable obstacles. I have university which is fairly impossible to escape and this walk would mean missing two days. And i'm probably just getting my hopes up way too high because there are only 100 places on this walk. Oh well, doesn't hurt to try right?

And my consolation is that this weekend is Earth Dance and I'm so excited because this is my first time at an event like this. Not entirely sure what to expect other than a fun time. I'll get back to you on that one.

Aaaand then, I found this cool photos on the internet. Amazing what you can stumble across, or should I say stumble upon. Its from the website insanetwist.com. Not sure how referencing on the internet really works - I also zoned out when they explained plagiarism at school - but just let the record show that this images aren't mine in the slightest way. Doesn't mean I can't think they're really pretty though.

These are images of alcoholic drinks under a microscope. Cool right? Not sure why but I suddenly feel like drinking spirits just got so much more classy. The other images are on the website but I thought these ones were worth sharing right here right now.

Vodka & tonic

Tequilaaaaa!
I think that will be all for today folks. Have a good one. It is now 11 o'clock Cape Town time and is time for me to get down and dirty with my biochemistry. Stay sweet.

Holidaydreaming

I know, I know, its been a while since my last post. Blogging is a habit I'm still nurturing. I promise, I will get better at it. I do actually have an excuse though. I had a fairly large test which had to be learnt for. Ask me anything about the skin or the gastro-intestinal tract. I know it all! Like where is that slice of toast digested? I know that. For how long though, that is the question. Don't you hate the way you forget everything you learnt for a test within a few days? But I digress...

What's really on my mind is HOLIDAYS!! It's only a short break but a holiday nonetheless. I unfourtunately have to take a bus home which will work out to be a 8 hour, unbearably uncomfortable trip if I'm lucky but such are the woes of living in the middle of nowhere. Maybe I'll post a few pics from home... Anyway, what holidays have really got me thinking about is our big plan to go to India. Aren't you excited? I was just strolling the internet as I do all too often when I have work and I found the best travel posters. Very art deco, although though I don't even know if that's right. I never did art history. Let's just say vintage, that covers all manner of things these days. They have me all ready to pack my bags and jet-set. Oh, if I were a rich girl, tralalalalalalala. Not sure how many la's Gwen Stefani would want in that.

I actually have quite a long bucket list of places I'd like to go. Starting with the entire world of course but the moon isn't too big a dream for a simple 'plaas meisie' is it? Chortle.

I want to see some cute Indian ellies!
I say cute because everyone knows how much more hardcore African ellies are.

One day...

P.S. I'm not sure how copyrighting and referencing works out here on the interweb but if you want to know I got these photos from pinterest.com. There, see, I didn't steal them.

You win some, you lose some

I know, I know. It's been quite a while since my last (and first post). I wold say it's been quite a while since I posted but I don't think you can actually say that when writing your second post ever.

I think half the problem is I get the feeling nothing in my life would really interest the internet. I mean, seriously, there are some very interesting things on the internet. So let me just tell you about what's happening right now. And by right now I mean today and this past weekend. To use an old and very used line, I've got good news and I've got bad news. I don't suppose either will be that bad or that good to you but respectively they both made and broke my day.

So first up, ding ding ding... I had my driver's test. And I failed. I didn't just fail though. I stalled! In the yard! Embarrassing. Plus, then the traffic officer was pretty much convinced I couldn't even drive a car. So that was not a good day.

But then something amazing happened. I won something. Not really a big thing. I won free entrance to a club or something. That part is actually fairly irrelevant. The cool part is that I won. Because when I saw that I'd won, oh my goodness, there ain't no party like a free stuff party. I felt like I'd actually achieved something and that I could be proud that my name was the one drawn at random. Suddenly, not having a license passed by in the blur of the post-win rush.

Basically, it was just the best feeling. When it comes down to it, I love free stuff. Like, any free stuff. There is very little I would turn away if it was free. My room at home is a testament to that. I keep it all, especially if I have no really purpose for it. I'm off to go enjoy my free entrance now.

Oh, and another reason to be happy: did someone say spring was in the air? I think hell yeaaah.

First things first...

Not so long ago but what feels like a lifetime ago, I was an exchange student. That's a story for another time. The point is, I made a few friends from other parts of the world. In the attempt to keep in touch - and not in the occasional facebook message and Skype every 3 months kind of way - one friend (I'll introduce in a minute) and I came across the genius idea of setting up a Youtube channel where we could post videos to each other, whenever and wherever. Its quite a good idea I think, except for one thing. While she is pretty at regularly filming and uploading videos I fail dismally. I don't think the universe wants that for me personally. Apart from the fact that I was obviously not born to be in front of any kind of camera, the one time I did actually make a video it just wouldn't upload.

I have thus accepted that my future is not in vlogging and so I thought I might try my hand at blogging. So far so good, although it's only been all of a day.

And I promised I would introduce my friend. Meet Vicky, an Australian with Asian Persuasion. I think if I liked bananas, she'd be my favourite.
